Weight Loss: Weight Loss Motivation Secrets

by Joel Riley

Motivation and perseverance are somethings that many people lack when it comes to losing some weight. No matter how desperate they want to lose weight, they just can't muster the will and power to do so. So, how can you find the strength and will to get out of the sofa and start losing some weight?

The first step is to make sure you have targeted goals. As a hypnotherapist I see a lot of clients for weight loss and they all say, "I'm trying to lose some weight, can you help me." Instantly, I know they are struggling and their chances of succeeding on their diet are slim. How?

Reason behind why they are struggling is simply because their goal is ambiguous. "lose some weight" can mean a lot of things. "some weight" can refer to losing only one kilogram, it can also mean losing 100 pounds. So, think about what I just said.

While doing your weight loss routines, you find yourself little or no motivation to do so. This happens because you have no idea where you are going to end up in your weight loss programs. Subconsciously, you only wanted to lose SOME weight. So, even shedding 1 pound of your weight, you have already attained your goal of losing some weight.

Yeah sure, it's not what you really had in mind, I'm pretty sure you wanted to lose more than a pound, but sub-consciously - you've achieved your goal, so congratulations … and back to eating you go.

When you are dieting it is absolutely vital that you know exactly how much weight you need to lose. This will provide you with weight loss motivation and the keys to success. If you know exactly how much you are getting rid of then

- You have a purpose and know what you want to achieve

- You know when you have got there

- There will be no conflict between your conscious and subconscious mind

- You can stay motivated as you progress towards your weight loss target

So, what are you waiting for? Take a fresh piece of paper and starting writing focus and specific goals regarding your weight loss. And the same saying still goes, action speaks louder than words. Get off the chair you are on and start working on your weight.
