Which is More Effective - Hoodia Diet Pills or Hoodia Patches?

by Reagan Miers

As I'm sure you are aware, the companies who market and promote hoodia patches generally make the bold claim that a patch works much better than the usual hoodia diet pills. The theory is that by wearing a patch the hoodia will slowly work it's way through your skin before passing into your bloodstream. Giving you a slow, constant supply of hoodia all day long.

Companies selling the hoodia patch will claim that since it bypasses your stomach and enters the bloodstream through the skin, it will suppress your appetite quicker and more effectively than capsules or liquids.

These theories seem to make sense, however, there is very little evidence to actually confirm them. To be honest, there are no clinical trials or experiments into the effectiveness of hoodia patches. There are very few studies on hoodia gordonii at all.

One trick people fall into is believing that a hoodia patch is effective because they have seen other patches. Yes, nicotine patches and birth control patches seem to work, so people assume that hoodia patches are the same. But there are a lot of differences between these products.

In order to buy a birth control patch you must be issued a prescription, and until recently you needed a prescription to be able to get a nicotine patch too. They have only just become available over the counter. However, you don't need a prescription for a hoodia patch, and this is an important factor to remember.

Before a product that required a prescription can go on sale to the public it must go through a lot of stringent testing to ensure that it is safe and effective. None of the hoodia patches available on the market today have ever required a prescription and so have never gone through this testing.

If you don't buy the clinical studies argument, what about the commonsense argument? Let me explain. Hoodia gordonii is a cactus-like plant grown in the Kalahari Desert of South Africa. It has been used for centuries by the San tribe to stave off hunger during long hunting trips.

They cut off about 2-3 inches of the plant, peel it, and then eat it. This small piece of the plant suppresses their appetite for hours. What more closely resembles eating the actual plant - swallowing a pill that contains the powder of the ground up plant, or sticking a patch on your skin? I think you would agree that a pill would be more effective than a patch.

So I believe that all the hoodia patches out there are a waste of time, which may make you think that hoodia supplement capsules are the best way forward. This is not true! In fact most studies show that the majority of hoodia products available today are fakes which contain little to no hoodia gordonii. There are only a few hoodia diet pills which do contain genuine hoodia gordonii.

Until there is a hoodia patch that actually works, your money will be better spent on a high quality hoodia diet pill that contains authentic hoodia gordonii and has been proven to be effective.
